William J. Brisk, Esq. has achieved virtually every honor available to an elder law attorney. He is a Certified Elder Law Attorney and one of fewer than 60 Fellows of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Bill received his B.A. from Brown University and his law degree from New York University School of Law, where he was a Root-Tilden Scholar. Bill also holds a Ph.D. in international and Latin American politics from Johns Hopkins University. Bill taught elder law at Boston College School of Law and is currently an adjunct professor at Suffolk University School of Law.
Since 1990, he has co-authored three books on elder law: Legal Planning for the Elderly in Massachusetts, Massachusetts Elder Law, and A Will Is Not Enough in Massachusetts. Bill has written articles, case comments, and book reviews on virtually every aspect of elder law and received the John J. Regan Writing Award from the NAELA. Boston Magazine recognized Bill as a “SuperLawyer” for the last six years.
Bill lectures frequently both nationally and in the Boston area. He was associate editor of the Massachusetts Law Review, co-editor of a newsletter circulated nationally to elder law attorneys, and serves as Executive Articles Editor for the NAELA Journal. He is a past-president of the Massachusetts Chapter of NAELA and served on NAELA’s Board of Directors, the Board of Delegates of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and is a Life Member of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. Bill concentrates on long-term care and estate planning, Medicaid eligibility, guardianships, and litigation.
